March Events at Northern Michigan Ski Resorts

March 2025

March is a big month for the three ski resorts in Northern Michigan. Boyne Mountain in Boyne Falls, and Nub’s Nob and The Highlands in Harbor Springs all host fun events to beat the winter blues.

Ring in Spring/Zoo-de-Ski at The Highlands

Here's what happened in 2024:

Friday
  • 4-9pm – Evening Skiing & Snowboarding 
  • 9pm-1am – Band & Party in the Zoo Bar
Saturday
  • 9am-9pm – Skiing & Snowboarding
  • 12-4pm – DJ on the Slopes
  • 2-4pm – Slush Cup
  • 4-6pm – Party of Zoo Bar Cantina featuring live music by The Remadee
  • 4-6pm – Brews & Hot Dog Happy Hour
  • 6pm – Live music featuring Chris Koury at Slopeside Lounge
  • 9am-1pm – Band & Party in the Zoo Bar
Sunday
  • 9am-4:30pm – Skiing & Snowboarding 

Mardi Gras at Nub's Nob

Here's what happened in 2024:

  • 10am – Fat Tire Boogie- Mountain biking down a ski slope. Three age groups- 12 and under, 13-17 and 18 and over. Cost is $1.
  • 11am – Crazy Kids & Mogul Muncher’s Silly Slalom at Big Time for those age 20 and under.
  • 12pm – Live music in the Winter Garden
  • 12pm – The Dorie Sarns Challenge- A modified dual GS race on Birch Run. Awards for the top three finishers in these age divisions: age 8 and under, 9-12, 13-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and over. Cost is $1.
  • 1:30pm – Silly Slalom for teams of 2 people age 21 and over. Cost is $1. Grand Prize is a $200 Cool Cash Card.
  • 2:30pm – Soaker Cup for all skiers. Ski across Lake Nubs without falling in. Winner receives a $200.00 Cool Cash Card. $1 entry fee.
  • 3:30pm – Costume Judging on the deck. $200 Cool Cash Card for first prize and $100 for second and third. No charge. Age groups: 12 and under, 13-17, and 18 and older.

Carnival Weekend at Boyne Mountain

This fun, 3-day event is recommended for adults who want to act like kids again. 

Here's what happened in 2024:

Friday
  • 8pm – Martini Party  in the Clocktower Lodge Lobby
  • 9pm-Midnight  – 70’s Disco Party in the Snowflake Lounge
Saturday
  • 12-3pm – Disciples 8 Party at Disciples Overlook
  • 12-6pm – Mechanical Bull Riding
  • 1-4pm – 80’s Party at Mountain Express
  • 4-7pm – 80’s Party at the Back Forty
  • 9pm-Midnight – 90’s Party in the Snowflake Lounge
Sunday
  • 9am-4:30pm – Skiing & Snowboarding
  • 10am-12pm – Registration for Slush Cup at the base of North McLouth
  • 10am-1pm – Last Man Standing Brunch & Bloody Mary Bar at Stein Eriksen’s and The Alpen Hut
  • 12pm – Slush Cup at the Base of North McLouth
  • 1-3pm – Live DJ at the Mountain Express Base Area

Hops 'n Highlands

Highlights include:
  • Beer Tasting Event
  • Live Music
  • Ice Bar
  • Food Trucks
  • Keg Bowling
  • IFOSH Stein Hosting
  • Winter Championship
  • After Party at Zoo Bar
  • Cantina

 

Tickets are typically $25 each in advance and include access to the beer-tasting event, 4 sampling tickets, and a gift.
