Memorial Day Parades & Services in Northern Michigan

Communities Hosting Events

Memorial Day weekend is the kickoff to summer in Northern Michigan. But, more importantly, it’s a time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

These Up North communities offer a variety of weekend events to remember those who gave all.

*All events are held on Memorial Day, unless otherwise noted*

Boyne City

  • 8am – Service at Veterans Memorial Park– 207 N. Lake City St., Boyne Falls
  • 8:25am – Service at Village Green Park– 4454 M-75, Walloon Lake
  • 8:50am – Service at Evangeline Cemetery– 2050 W. Clute Rd., Boyne City
  • 9:15am – Service at Dyer Cemetery– 5268 Camp Daggett Rd., Boyne City
  • 9:40am – Lost at Sea Remembrance at Veterans Memorial Park– 207 N. Lake St., Boyne City
  • 10:10am – Service at Advance Cemetery– Evangeline Township
  • 10:35 – Service at Wilson Cemetery– 272 Leroy St., Boyne City
  • 10:40am – Service at Maple Lawn Cemetery – 1050 Boyne Ave., Boyne City
  • 11:45am- Memorial Day Parade – Travels from American Legion Post 228 (302 S. Lake St., Boyne City), down Lake St. to Veterans Memorial Park
  • 12pm – Memorial Service – Veterans Memorial Park

Charlevoix

  • 9am – Service at Brookside Cemetery– 2500 N. M-66
  • 10am – Parade in Downtown Charlevoix
  • Following Parade – Service at East Park- 400 Bridge St.

Cheboygan

  • 9:15am – Rifle Volley at St. Francis Cemetery- 9974 Richardson Rd.
  • 9:45am – Rifle Volley at Mt. Calvary Cemetery- Lafayette St.
  • 10:15am – Ceremony at Washington Park- 124 N. Main St.
  • 11am – Ceremony & Reading of Names at Veteran’s Memorial Park
  • 11:45am – Ceremony at Pine Hill Cemetery- Pinehill Ave. 

East Jordan

  • 10:30am – Memorial Day Parade – Beginning at GAR Park across from American Legion Post #227- 305 E. Main St.
  • Following Parade – Service at Memorial Park– 101 Spring St.

Harbor Springs

  • 7-10am – Breakfast at American Legion Post #281– 101 E. 3rd St.
  • 10am – Memorial Day Parade – Main Street
  • Following Parade – Service at Lakeview Cemetery– 7577 Cemetery Rd.

Indian River

  • 1pm  – Memorial Day Parade – Begins at Modern Pharmacy- 3948 S. Straits Hwy and travels to Veteran’s Park

Mackinac Island

  • 11am – Memorial Day Observance – A brief and informal observance to pay tribute to the soldiers who served at Fort Mackinac. Soldiers will assemble at Fort Mackinac, march to the cemetery, perform a short ceremony and salute, and return to the fort. Fort Mackinac- 7125 Huron Rd., Mackinac Island.

Mackinaw City

  • Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 at 1pm – Parade beginning at Conkling Park- 335 S. Huron Rd.
  • May 23rd-25th, 2026 – Fort Michilimackinac Historical Reenactment Pageant at Mackinac Bay Trading Company- 312 S. Huron Ave.
  • 10am – Memorial Day Observation at Veteran’s Park- 102 S. Huron Rd.
  • Following the Observation – Gathering at American Legion Post 159

Petoskey

  • 8:30am – Honors Ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery Veterans Honor Garden– 1938 Sheridan St. (enter through the Sheridan Street gate)
  • 9:30am – Lost at Sea Remembrance at the Festival Place Shelter-– 101 E. Lake St.
  • 10:30am – Memorial Day Parade – From the corner of Mitchell & Emett Streets and ending at the Pennsylvania Park Gazebo- 411 E. Lake St.
  • 11am – Memorial Service at Pennsylvania Park -Includes speeches, wreath placement, music, a salute, and taps
  • Following the Service – Open House at American Legion Post #194– 455 Bay St. Light snacks and drinks provided to veterans and their families.
